Why should you print professionally? I get this question a lot.
Most people think if you purchase the digitals from your professional photographer that you can go to a discount store and print them cheaper...
And the answer is Yes, you can. However, you have heard the old adage "you pay for what you get".
If you are taking the time to print a photo, this photo must be special to you and will become an heirloom. Something for your family to cherish for centuries to come. But what does a professional printing service have that others don't?
According to Nations Photo Lab it comes down to paper! "advanced color dispersion technology, professional quality paper is also capable of a dazzling array of color, reproducing skin tones more accurately and producing strong, bright colors, especially vibrant greens, blues, yellows, and cyan."
I completely agree with them. Colors can be tricky. You want your blues to be blue and your yellows to be yellow. Otherwise the photo looks dull and lifeless. This reflects poorly on the photographer as well. I am good "popping my collar" but poor quality printing will definitely take away from the greatest of photos.
I only use professional printing companies. They offer CONSISTENCY. Which in my opinion is also another great reason to use a professional printing company for your photos. You don't have a high school kid pulling your photos off a machine. You have technicians that study paper and the printing process. They know all about DPI
I could go on and on about the different papers, textures, styles that a professional printing company offer but it would be like I am selling the printing company when I am selling my ART Lol. I wouldn't want to distract you from the task at hand. Lol.
I am actually about to start using a new type of material to print on. Canvas has been my material of choice for a long while now but 2023 is going to be the year for new formats! I even plan to dabble in painting. This will create some one of a kind works that you want to stick around for.
So you learned that the reasons you are paying a slight bit more for your prints are because you:
1. Your photographer said so (shrugging)
2. You want quality
3. You want consistency
4. You want a photo that has the correct vibrant colors
5. You want an heirloom to last a lifetime
You can never go wrong when you have your photographer submit your photos to be professionally printed. You will never go wrong when you purchase any of my prints.
Remember to support small businesses by shopping local.
